Compliant Collaboration,
Built for Both Sides

MD-Match connects NPs and PAs to collaborating physicians — with fair pricing, fair compensation, and a structured framework built for compliance in every state.

What MD-Match Stands For

MD-Match was built by Dr. Philip Wasef, MD — an actively collaborating psychiatrist — to create a service that prioritizes both the NPs/PAs and the collaborating physician. The goals of MD-Match is to eliminate unnecessary costs for NPs/PAs, provide fair compensation to collaborating physicians, and ensure both parties remain in full compliance with board requirements. MD-Match was designed from the ground-up to appeal to both sides of the collaboration.

No Fees — Just Your Availability and Expertise
MD-Match does not charge our physicians. All we ask is that you be available to your NPs and PAs — to offer your expertise and guidance when they need it.
I've found that a physician who is genuinely available and engaged is the most important ingredient to a successful collaboration — and to ensuring patients receive the best care possible. That's the standard we hold ourselves to at MD-Match.

Frequently Asked Questions

About MD-Match
MD-Match recruits board-certified, licensed physicians to serve as collaborating physicians for nurse practitioners and physician assistants. We handle the recruitment and matching process so you can focus on patient care. MD-Match does not set up medical director arrangements or physician ownership arrangements — we exclusively provide collaborating physicians for NPs and PAs.
Yes. We only reach out to physicians who practice in your specialty. For example, if you are a psychiatric NP or PA, we will connect you with a psychiatrist. We do not match across specialties.
We typically find a compatible collaborating physician within 7 days of your request. We maintain a roster of available physicians in multiple specialties and states, allowing us to move quickly.
Yes, every physician receives a background check. We do not include any physician who has a current or previous history within the past 5 years of any action against their license or medical malpractice claim. We can also assist with providing additional verification of state licensure on request. You will have an introductory meeting with your collaborating physician prior to signing of the collaborative agreement to personally ask any additional questions you may have.
Most of our physicians have DEAs in multiple states. We understand that in certain states a collaborating physician needs to have a state-specific DEA for the NP/PA to prescribe controlled substances, and we match accordingly.
Physician Availability & Response Times
We require all collaborating physicians to be available for at least one meeting per month. For urgent matters, they must respond within two hours. For routine questions or chart reviews, they must respond within 24 hours. If a physician consistently fails to meet these expectations, we will terminate that arrangement and find you a replacement at no additional cost.
We understand how critical continuity of care is. If a physician's license is suspended, revoked, or they are charged with a felony, you have the right to terminate immediately. For any situation — including emergencies — re-matching is always free and we will work to place you with a new physician within 7 days. Having MD-Match as your ongoing partner significantly improves your chances of a smooth transition compared to managing a private collaboration arrangement on your own. There are no payments owed to MD-Match during transition periods.
Contract Terms & Termination
Pending your verbal or written approval of the collaboration offer, we will send the contract for review and signature via DocuSign.
The three-year initial term exists solely to avoid the administrative burden of renewing the contract every year — it is not meant to lock you in. Most importantly, you can terminate for any reason at any time simply by providing 30 days' written notice.
No. If you terminate with 30 days' written notice, no further monthly fees are owed after your notice period ends. The only obligation that continues is the non-solicitation / non-circumvention provision.
Simply reach out to us and we will process a termination within 30 days. Fees stop at the end of that 30-day period.
Yes. If you have not started seeing patients yet due to ongoing credentialing or onboarding, the start of your monthly payments can be delayed — provided you notify MD-Match at least 5 days before the scheduled payment start date.
Any physician introduced to you by MD-Match must continue to work with you exclusively through MD-Match for the duration of the agreement and for 12 months after termination. You may not hire or otherwise engage them directly outside of the MD-Match arrangement during that period.
Yes. You may terminate immediately if your collaborating physician has their license suspended or revoked, is placed on probation, or is charged with a felony. In those cases, no notice period is required.
Malpractice Insurance
Both parties carry coverage. Your facility is required to maintain Professional Liability / Medical Malpractice Insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per claim and $3,000,000 in the annual aggregate. MD-Match requests that NPs/PAs add the collaborating physician as an additional insured under your policy. The physician also carries their own malpractice policy for their private patient care.
In most cases, there is no change to the policy premium. Insurance carriers generally understand that certain providers require collaborating services and typically ask the collaborating physician to show proof of their own malpractice insurance — this ensures your policy only covers them for their role in your clinic.
Yes. MD-Match maintains a separate group malpractice policy to provide an additional layer of coverage for all collaborating physicians. This covers rare situations in which a claim is brought solely against the collaborating physician rather than the NP, PA, or clinic.
Please reach out directly to Dr. Wasef at philipwasef@md-match.com. The goal is not to provide lower collaborating costs just to have to pay more in insurance. Dr. Wasef will review your communication with your insurance carrier to ensure they understand we are only requesting simple additional insured coverage. If your insurance provider is indeed significantly increasing the yearly premium, we can omit this requirement since MD-Match still maintains a separate policy for collaborating physicians.
Regulatory Compliance
MD-Match assists with compliance checks and reminders for both the NP/PA and collaborating physician regarding state-specific requirements. We track compliance monthly via a direct check-in and compliance form with both parties. However, regulatory compliance — including your state's nurse practice act, physician practice act, and all applicable federal and state laws — is ultimately the sole responsibility of you and your collaborating physician.
No. MD-Match has no control over and does not direct the medical or clinical decisions of any collaborating physician or the NPs and PAs they supervise. All clinical and medical judgment remains entirely with the licensed professionals involved.
Fees & Payments
Monthly collaboration fees are billed on the first of each month via Stripe invoice (ACH transfer accepted). Monthly fees to MD-Match already include the physician's collaboration fee — no additional fee is owed directly to your collaborating physician. There may be a reduced introductory fee for the first few months, which will be specified in your agreement.
If any fee is not paid within 14 days of its due date, MD-Match may terminate the agreement. Please reach out proactively if you anticipate any payment difficulty — any collaboration can be terminated for any reason with 30 days' notice.
No. Upon termination for any reason, amounts previously paid are non-refundable.
You can request a delay to your payment start date if you have not yet started seeing patients due to credentialing or onboarding. You must notify MD-Match at least 5 days before the scheduled payment start date to qualify for this extension.
No. Our fees only apply to active collaborations. Re-matching is completely free for any reason. In most cases, we'll have a new collaborator lined up well before the 30-day transition window closes.
